1. Early Morning Canoe Wildlife Tour
Your adventure begins at 6:00 AM with a peaceful canoe excursion through Tortuguero's scenic canals. Guests are kindly asked to arrive 10 minutes early, where a light complimentary refreshment will be provided, including coffee or tea, cookies, and fresh seasonal fruits.
This guided experience lasts approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and offers excellent opportunities to observe Tortuguero's abundant wildlife in their natural habitat. Common sightings include:
American crocodiles and caimans
Green iguanas and other reptiles
A wide variety of tropical birds
Monkeys and other rainforest mammals
River turtles and aquatic wildlife (seasonal)
The quiet nature of the canoe allows visitors to get remarkably close to wildlife while enjoying the tranquility of the canals during the most active hours of the day.
2. Jaguar Trail National Park Hike
The second activity is a guided hike through the renowned Jaguar Trail within Tortuguero National Park. Depending on park operations and availability, this tour typically begins at either 11:00 AM or 2:30 PM and lasts approximately 2 hours.
As you walk through primary and secondary rainforest, your expert guide will help you discover and identify the rich flora and fauna that make Tortuguero famous. Wildlife commonly observed includes:
White-faced capuchin monkeys
Sloths
Tropical birds and migratory species
Colorful insects and butterflies
Snakes and other reptiles

3. Night Walk Adventure
As darkness falls, the rainforest comes alive with a completely different cast of wildlife. The Night Walk begins at 6:30 PM from the Tuanis Tour Office and lasts approximately 2 hours, ending around 8:30 PM.
Accompanied by an experienced naturalist guide, you will explore the rainforest after sunset and discover species that are rarely seen during the day. Typical sightings may include:
Red-eyed tree frogs and other amphibians
Various snake species
Nocturnal birds
Fascinating insects and arachnids
Bats and other nocturnal mammals
Unique rainforest creatures active only at night
