1. Green Sea Turtle Nesting Tour

The highlight of this package is the opportunity to witness the remarkable nesting process of the endangered Green Sea Turtle on Tortuguero’s protected beaches.

This activity operates under strict regulations established by Tortuguero National Park to ensure the protection of the turtles and their nesting habitat. There are two possible tour schedules:

8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
10:00 PM – 12:00 Midnight

Tour schedules are assigned by the National Park through an electronic lottery system. To receive your assigned entry time and final instructions, all participants must visit the Tuanis Tour Office, located 50 meters south of the main dock in Tortuguero, between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM on the day of the tour.

During this unforgettable experience, visitors may observe female Green Sea Turtles emerging from the ocean, digging their nests, laying eggs, and returning to the sea under the cover of darkness.

Important Requirements

For the protection of the turtles and to comply with National Park regulations, guests must:

Wear dark-colored clothing
Use closed-toe shoes
Bring mosquito repellent
Carry a rain jacket or poncho during rainy weather
Follow all instructions provided by park guides

Please note: Cameras, cell phones, flashlights, smartwatches, and all other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during the turtle nesting tour.

2. Early Morning Canoe Wildlife Tour

The following morning begins with a peaceful canoe excursion through Tortuguero’s world-famous canals.

The tour starts at 6:00 AM, and guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes early to enjoy a complimentary light refreshment consisting of coffee or tea, cookies, and fresh fruit.

This guided experience lasts approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and offers exceptional opportunities to observe wildlife in its natural environment. Common sightings include:

Caimans and crocodiles
Green iguanas
Numerous tropical bird species
Monkeys and other rainforest mammals
Aquatic wildlife and reptiles

The silent movement of the canoe allows visitors to experience the rainforest awakening at sunrise while enjoying some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Tortuguero.


3. Jaguar Trail National Park Hike

The final activity is a guided walk along the famous Jaguar Trail inside Tortuguero National Park.

The hike begins at 11:00 AM and lasts approximately 2 hours. Accompanied by an experienced naturalist guide, visitors will explore rainforest ecosystems while learning about the area's extraordinary biodiversity.

Tropical birds
Butterflies and insects
Snakes and other reptiles
Native rainforest vegetation
